Her Path to Becoming a Professional Nanny

Learn what Jade shares about her journey and her desire to join the nurturing profession of nannying.

A Successful Career Change

“In 2019, I wanted to change careers and stop working as an esthetician, a job I had done since I was 16 and no longer felt passionate about.”

First Experiences with Children

“After that, I applied to the town hall of the commune where I lived in southern France to become a youth leader in a nursery school. I was hired and had the chance to train by obtaining the BAFA and gain experience through this first job.
I fell deeply in love with those two years as a youth leader because I could offer various activities (musical awakening, sports, games, crafts, etc.). The strong bonds I created with the children, parents, and staff confirmed I had finally found my calling.”

Joining BeeBoo in Geneva

“Later, I worked for private families as a day and night nanny. I became a childminder at my previous childcare location for a year. Then, my partner and I decided to move to Haute-Savoie to have the opportunity to work in Switzerland. Today, I am lucky to have joined the BeeBoo agency.”

A Typical Day as a Professional Nanny in Geneva

Many of us want to know all about our children’s daily lives. At school or with their nannies, it’s sometimes impossible to know everything. Jade explains her professional nanny routine!

Daily Organization and Rituals

“Currently, I have a 21-hour per week contract, caring for two children (8 and 10 years old) from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and from 12 pm to 7:30 pm on Wednesdays.”

Busy Wednesdays and Extracurricular Activities

“I pick up the children from school at noon, and we chat in the car about their day. Then, we prepare the meal together (a fun and educational moment), followed by lunch with music (our little ritual!).
The afternoon varies with activities: soccer, pottery, birthday parties, etc. If there are no activities, we enjoy quiet or creative games at home. Late afternoon: shower, pajamas, homework in a calm setting, then free time while I prepare dinner.”

Relationship with the Parents

“At 7:30 pm, the parents come home. I share the day’s updates (orally plus photos/anecdotes sent via WhatsApp, with their permission). I put great importance on this educational continuity between the parents and me.”

Essential Qualities According to Jade, BeeBoo Professional Nanny

“I am a patient, gentle person who listens to the child’s needs. I am kind and have kept a childlike spirit, which helps me understand them better.”

Funny and Memorable Nanny Moments

  • “You are the best nanny in the world!” a little girl once told me. Such an adorable moment.
  • A little boy wrote in a message box: “I had a great day because we played soccer, but I’m sad because I wanted to go to the pool… Jade is nice anyway!” — it was so spontaneous, very funny.
  • A parent sent me a message saying they felt their children were more balanced and happy since I’ve been taking care of them. It was a very touching testimonial.

Jade and Continuing Education with Pop.Pins Academy

The Pop.Pins Academy and its NANNY training will resume in September 2025 with a new cohort! A few spots remain; don’t hesitate to join us!

Why Training Is Essential in Childcare

“I think it’s a great initiative that Pop.Pins Academy exists. It’s important to be able to train throughout your career because children’s needs evolve.”

A Benefit for Professionals and Families

“Nutrition, kindness, motor development, safety, hygiene… so many areas where staying informed is crucial. It’s a real advantage, both for us professionals and for families.”

Improving the Nanny Profession: Jade’s Perspective

“In my opinion, people need to understand that this job is not just about ‘watching’ a child. We play a fundamental role in their emotional, relational, physical, and motor development.
Recognition of the profession is still lacking — in France, it’s difficult. Since working in Switzerland, I feel it more, and it’s very rewarding.
I think we must keep training professionals but also inform parents. This would help sustain this vital profession. And above all: work with passion and heart, so this remains the most beautiful job in the world.”

BeeBoo: Thank you, Jade!!!
