(BeeBoo)Hello Karolina! How long have you been photographing families and what are your main motivations?
(Karolina Slawikowska) I’ve been photographing families for 5 years now and my main motivation has always been the same: to capture moments and turn them into the most precious family souvenirs. The truth is, memories fade and what we’re left with are… photos. Think about it – do you remember what it felt like to carry your little one in your belly? Do you remember how little they were when they were born? The truth is, our experience of motherhood can sometimes become a little hazy and that’s alright. But here I am to help you focus on the here and now, to capture it and to turn it into most previous memories.
How would you define your photographic style? What are you trying to capture?
The official name for my style would be lifestyle. It means I won’t pose you much, but guide you and prompt you, to achieve the most natural, authentic results. My sessions are in tune with you as a family, relaxed and fun. I observe a lot and most importantly, I photograph from my heart, capturing the bigger picture, the classic portraits, but also the details and the in-between moments. Often, the little gesture like you tugging your toddlers hair behind their ear might become your absolute favorite frame of the entire session.
What are your tips for a successful session?
Two words: preparation and communication! It all starts when you contact me with a question. I’ll respond with an introductory email, in which I’ll share my welcome guide and invite you to a quick phone call to get to know each other. I’ll also share my preparation guides and ask you to fill out a client questionnaire, so I can get to know you better and set the creative wheels in motion for the details of your session. Speaking of details, i‘ll help you choose the perfect outfits and venue for you and your family – I have over 20 to choose from.
In summary, I think a successful shoot is about finding the right photographer for you as a family: someone you get on well with, who understands your needs and wishes, and whose photographic style you love.

How do you work with children? Do you have any tips and tricks up your sleeve?
Haha, not at all. I am not a baby/kid whisper and I never pretend otherwise. I strongly believe however, that kids should be respected and their opinions valued the same as adults’. So when a kid doesn’t want to do something, I never push. I might revisit a certain pose or prompt, but I never make anyone do anything they aren’t 100% happy with. Above all, my sessions are fun and an opportunity to be together as a family. And this is where my skill as a psychologist really shines: I create an environment where you can really be together, just as you are, and together, as a family. The best feedback I get after the session is that it was a great family time – that’s my mission accomplished.
What are your prices for a session?
