For this summer issue, we

A Maternity Nurse in Geneva and present at BeeBoo: Meet Marie, our NANNY ON TOP this month!

Marie was guided to be maternity nurse in Geneva by a series of life circumstances. Passionate about working with children, she decided to devote herself full-time to this vocation. In 2022, Marie moved to the English capital where she worked as a nanny for foreign families, putting into practice the Faber & Mazlish nurturing approach that had proved so effective in the families she integrated. Her Maternity Nurse certification, obtained in London in 2023, confirms her technical skills in her comprehensive baby care routine and her dedication to supporting families in the daily tasks of life.

With over 10 years’ experience working with babies and families, Marie’s credo is to love herself and spread more love!
Meet this maternity nurse in Geneva who makes a real difference in the lives of the families and babies she cares for!

(BeeBoo) Hi Marie, thanks again for sharing your Maternity Nurse journey and routine with us! What led you to become a Maternity Nurse in Geneva?

(Marie) A succession of life circumstances. In 2018, my son is leaving New Caledonia, where we live, for Australia. His departure naturally pushed me to leave and pursue a professional activity out of passion. I want to work with children full-time. I leave NC for Ireland to improve my English.

In 2022, I’ll be moving to London to work as a nanny for foreign families, where I’ll be applying the Faber & Mazlish* Faber & Mazlish* nurturing approach I was trained for in New Caledonia. (*This method, based on active listening, empathy and mutual respect, aims to improve parent-child communication and has proved its effectiveness in the families it has integrated!)

My project is to improve parent/child relationships in the families I work with. And it works!

In 2023, I’m certified as a maternity nurse in London. Even though I’ve been looking after babies for over 10 years, I wanted to back up my experience with 1 diploma attesting to my technical skills with parents.

In addition, when I’m on the job, I help the whole family. My role is to make life easier for the parents by supporting them with all the siblings (if the family includes several children) as well as with the household chores if necessary.

I do this job by choice. I feel at home here.

Marie, a maternity nurse in Geneva with a heart this big!

Can you tell us about your latest experience as LIVE IN MATERNITY NURSE in London?

My last job started on 12/03 and ended on 31/05/2024 with a mixed family (German mom and Mauritian dad). I looked after a lovely baby boy born on 11/03. He became my center of interest 5 days a week, 24/24. I bottle-fed him with breast milk.

In addition to the care and attention (bath, massage, walks, sensory classes, etc.) given to the baby, I supported the family by :

– Cooking dinner every day,

– Keeping the living room tidy and clean,

– Daily shopping,

I was also able, with the parents’ agreement, to practice co-sleeping in order to give the necessary warmth to this wonderful baby who shared my room and my life.

I was very happy to be part of this honest and endearing family in which I felt respected and useful.

As a maternity nurse, what do you see as your added value in this job?

Love. I love them all as if they were my own.

I start from the premise that we’re all connected and that therefore the Love I transmit is the Love I transmit to myself.

A maternity nurse anecdote?

In “my” last family, when I cooked on the 1st evening, the parents were embarrassed because they weren”t used to this approach. At the end of the 3 months they asked me if I could cook their favorite dishes 😀. And mom, who loved baking, would ask me what cakes I wanted to try 😋.

What do you think of the opening of the PoP.Pins Academy ? How is this good news for childcare professionals?

The  POP.PINS ACADEMY brings real added value to the early childhood sector, providing access to a range of caring communication approaches and professional techniques.

It enables the professionalization of the activity, making it a real profession.

What do you think could be improved in the maternity nurse profession? What does the profession need to be or continue to be the most beautiful profession in the world?

I’d love to see a change in the mentality of families and professionals in this sector, who unfortunately see this profession as 1 business and forget the respect due to children, who can only blossom from the heart.

Thank you very much Marie !!!!
